Steve thx for the review of Set me Free. You have a good listening ear to notice that the song wasn't mastered. I do have a mastered version but I didnt like how it turned out. They mastered the life right out of the track so i decided to stick with the full of life unmastered version. You are the first person in over 10 years who has noticed that its unmastered. Good ear man. Thx again Ante N
I agree - sometimes the mastering process can simply compress the tune to death - A good mastering engineer will generally know where to stop "the squash" before all of the dynamics disappear. Thanks for the follow-up. Take care, Steve
Yup!!! You should hear what they gave me. What I actually paid for them to do on the recommendation from an acquaintance many years ago. I did get my money back. It took a couple of months of trying to get in touch with them first then the back and forth bs came of them trying to convince me that their 2nd best mastering guy there did the master on that song and how he does great work and has never gotten a complaint from anyone else but me. Then I forwarded them the song he did. A few days later I got a check in the mail with a full refund and a written apology. Haha!! A classic moment I have to say!! Ante
thanks a bunch for the review of Dyne's-O-Mite...... I wish a hard rock vocalist.....
Steve thanks for the review of my song Home. You are 100% spot on about the levels being all over the place and parts stepping all over each other. Me and a couple of friends recorded that song in my parent's garage back in 2002 on a Tascam cassette portastudio. I mixed it on that machine too. Lol! Btw I just listened to your song RIFITUS. I dig it man. Did I hear some Malmsteen in there?
